MSG Aiming to Welcome Approximately 13,000 Fans at Each Home Game Including Fully Vaccinated Fan Sections

Knicks Expecting Electric Playoff Crowd at The Garden

NEW YORK, May 19, 2021 – The New York Knicks announced today that tickets for their first-round playoff series against the Atlanta Hawks are now available for public sale. With New York State’s decision to increase total arena capacity in time for the 2021 NBA Playoffs, the Knicks are aiming to play in front of approximately 13,000 passionate fans at Madison Square Garden, starting with the team’s first home playoff game on Sunday, May 22.

“When it comes to our fans — you couldn’t ask for better energy, both inside The Garden and around the city — and we can’t thank them enough for their support this season,” said Leon Rose, President of the New York Knicks. “We’re incredibly excited to bring playoff basketball back to Madison Square Garden and to have the best fans in the league give us a true home court advantage.”

Tickets for all first-round playoff games are currently on sale, and individuals can buy up to four tickets for each game through nyknicks.com. There are a variety of options available to cheer on the Knicks in the postseason, for both vaccinated and unvaccinated fans. Designated vaccinated seating sections – which will not have social distancing between groups – are available for fans who are fully vaccinated. For a fan to qualify as fully vaccinated, the game date must fall at least 14 days after their second dose of the Pfizer-BioNtech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine or a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen COVID-19 vaccine. Children under the age of 16 will be permitted to sit in a vaccinated section by providing proof from a healthcare provider of a negative antigen or PCR COVID-19 test.

“Our incredible fans have provided us with unbelievable support at The Garden this season, and it’s about to get even more exciting with the start of the postseason,” said David Hopkinson, MSG Sports EVP and President of Team Business Operations. “We thank Governor Cuomo for giving us the opportunity to welcome even more of our fans back into the building for our return to the playoffs. We know Knicks fans are going to make their voices heard — and this team is ready to give all of New York City something to cheer about.”

Socially-distanced seating is also available in a variety of locations throughout the upper and lower bowl of the arena. Individuals have the opportunity to buy up to four seats with groups separated by social distancing. As was the case during the regular season, non-vaccinated guests will have several options to meet New York State’s health and safety guidelines – including proof from a healthcare provider of a negative antigen or PCR COVID-19 test.

For COVID-19 testing, guests may choose any healthcare provider. PCR tests must be taken within 72 hours of the day of the event, and antigen tests need to be taken within six hours of the game start time. To make things more convenient, The Garden has partnered with Ambulnz, a DocGo company, to offer onsite antigen testing on game days – delivering results within 30 minutes for $30.
