ROLE SUMMARY: 

The Coordinator Communications position will assist in the development of communications and public relations activities in support of the NY Rangers strategy and key initiatives. This role will assist in creation of team press releases and publications, including team media guide, game previews and post-game notes. This position will work closely with NYR PR department on monitoring and coordination of all media availabilities at all Rangers practices and home games. On game-days, this position will assist with all media credentialing functions for the team, working with the game-night staff to assist department in gameday PR operations.

Specific Functions/Activities SUMMARY: 

  • Assists in the execution of press announcements, including preparation and maintenance of press lists, distribution of press releases, and creation of gameday publications.
  • Responsible for operational setup of Chase Bridge and press workroom at all Rangers home games, including the credentialing process; assist with other game night operations as needed.
  • Monitor player availability for company executives.
  • Work closely with MSG Sports Communications department in spearheading and executing publicity efforts around the franchise.
  • Assist marketing, digital, event presentation, community relations and Garden of Dreams on identifying and coordinating efforts with players.
  • Help support and spearhead major team and player milestones (100th year anniversary, retirement nights, etc) in partnership with marketing, digital content, event presentation, PR, events, and other internal departments.
  • Serves as point of contact for visiting media and NHL PR officials.
  • Monitor daily NYR news clips.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • 1+ years’ experience in a prior PR or Communications role
  • Demonstrates high level of energy and commitment.
  • Exhibits a strong capacity for creativity and innovation.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Prior experience in fast paced environment working with tight deadline.
  • Knowledge of Photoshop is a plus.
  • Ability to work with cross functional teams.
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and open to learning new ways of working.
  • Ability to embrace change with a flexible mindset, even if the way forward isn’t clear.
  • Ability to work both independently to trouble shoot and problem solve.
  • Ability to be a reliable team member, capable of effective collaboration to achieve our shared goals across teams and departments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, tailoring the message based on the purpose, audience, and channel.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with all customers (internal and external).

 

Special Requirements

  • Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed for event coverage.

 

Pay Range
$45,000$68,000 USD
